Our team has plenty of experience with well tanks, and you can trust that we’ll help you determine the best size and type for your property.
Central Florida is known for its springs and having private wells for water. Having a well on your property allows you to enjoy crisp, fresh water without being attached to the city water system, allowing you to avoid monthly water bills. However, many property owners who have a well don’t actually know much about it, which can spell trouble if there’s ever a problem with the well system. At Bowen Plumbing Supply, we’re proud to be a trusted resource for property owners throughout the Ocala, Florida area who either already have a well or are interested in installing one.
Well systems are made of three key components: the well tank, the pump, and the pressure switch/control box or both. Modern well tanks use an internal diaphragm for pressurization. As the well tank fills with water, it compresses the air. When the pump cycles off, the compressed air provides pressure. Whenever someone turns on a faucet or uses water in your home, the air pressure in the tank sends water through the pipes and up to the faucet. When the water level in the tank drops to a certain point, the switch turns on the pump so that water continues to flow. Once the water is shut off, the pump continues to run until the tank refills and the pressure increases again.
Many homeowners do not know that a well system and the well tank require seasonal inspection. You can self-perform this inspection with some basic tools and knowledge. Download our seasonal well system inspection checklist .
